JOB DESCRIPTION |
|
PRIMARY PURPOSE Repairs and overhauls used Setra coaches and other company vehicles and prepares new vehicles for delivery. Individual must have effective organizational skills and the ability to interface with other internal support groups.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Examines vehicle, troubleshoots issues, and discusses with customer or supervisor the nature and extent of damage or malfunction. Plans work procedures and provide cost estimates to repair. Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle. Removes unit such as engine, transmission, or differential. Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear. Repairs or replaces pasts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves and bearings. Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps. Rebuilds parts such as door control units and water pumps. Rewires ignition system, lights and instrument panel. Realigns brakes, aligns front ends, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leak in radiator. Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers. Prepares new vehicles for sale by testing fluid levels, battery functions, heater, hydraulics, electronics, etc., according to an extensive check sheet. Completes required paperwork as it pertains to sales, preparation and repair jobs. Assists in inventory maintenance of shop supplies. Maintains a clean, safe and efficient working environment. Adheres to all safety and environmental regulations. Observes operation of vehicles, tools and equipment according to set safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Other duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of the management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES High school diploma or equivalent or higher. Two (2) years experience in the following areas: Suspension, Air brakes, Heating/AC, and preferably electrical systems Must have adequate hand tools Prior experience in the heavy automotive field (truck/bus) highly desirable Customer service oriented. Proficient computer experience. Ability to multi-task on various projects Demonstrated and effective communication skills for dealing with all levels of staff, customers, and suppliers. Ability to work independently without direct supervision. Ability to represent the company in a professional manner. Operate all shop power tools Forklift Oxygen/Acetylene torch Welding equipment Service vehicles Possess valid CDL license and have good driving record. Compliance with company policy for Certified CDL Holders mandatory.
